AP Top 25 College Football
Host Ralph Russo tackles on and off-field issues of the sport with an insider look into the AP Poll.
From 1990-2000 every game played between Florida and Florida State was a matchup of top-10 teams. The rivalry featured two Hall of Fame coaches in FSU’s Bobby Bowden and Florida’s Steve Spurrier, dozens of star players and numerous memorable games – including a Sugar Bowl that decided the national championship. On this week’s AP Top 25 Podcast, Ralph Russo looks back at the rivalry that helped make the Sunshine State the epicenter of college football with two sports writers who covered it. Pat Dooley from WRUF in Gainesville was a longtime columnist covering the Gators during the Spurrier Era. Jim Henry, currently the sports editor for the Tallahassee Democrat, chronicled the Bowden Dynasty for the paper. Dooley and Henry discuss each side of a rivalry that for a decade helped crown a national champion.
