AP Top 25 College Football
Host Ralph Russo tackles on and off-field issues of the sport with an insider look into the AP Poll.
Examining NIL
College athletes have been permitted to be paid for their names, images and likenesses for more than a year now and it at times seems like it is all those in and around college sports can talk about. What is the NCAA’s ability to enforce rules related to NIL? What are the chances federal legislation can provide some guardrails? What type of protections do athletes need? What’s a collective, and which ones might be built to last? To discuss all that are three experts in the field. Gabe Feldman, the director of the sports law program at Tulane, takes on the big picture. Mike Caspino is an attorney who represents and advises athletes on NIL deals. And Jason Belzer works with schools to set up collectives. In three separate interviews with AP’s Ralph Russo, they give an assessment of the state of NIL.
